Yeti recalls nearly 2 million soft coolers and gear cases over possible magnet detachment

Popular outdoor product company Yeti is recalling nearly 2 million of its soft coolers and gear cases over a magnet issue that could result in them being ingested.

The affected Yeti products are being recalled because the magnet-lined closure can fail and detach, which poses a "a risk of serious injury or death if ingested," the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement Thursday.

The CPSC said when two or more of the magnets detach and are ingested, they can attract to each other or other metal object and become lodged in the digestive system, which could cause perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning and death.
