Amplify the Black Bookstore

Donation protected
On August 27, 2020, Oprah Magazine published an article entitled "125 Black-Owned Bookstores in America That Amplify the Best in Literature".

This article highlights that independent book stores owned by African Americans have been around for decades. Currently there are 125 Black-owned bookstores in the country. I currently reside in the State of Maryland where there are only five Black-owned book stores. After completing this article it continues to confirm two things that I have made a pledge to do since the coronavirus pandemic and the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor happened that is to buy black and to educate myself more on everything encompassing my black history.

During this time, black-owned businesses have been some of the hardest hit by the pandemic. However, there have been "a surge in books sales, specifically for title on racism and history in this country," says Onikah Asamoa-Caesar, owner of Tulsa, Oklahoma's Fulton Street Books. This is amazing! As an avid book reader and the founder of Bea's Book Club. I not only want to purchase from Black-owned bookstores more frequently but, provide a donation to one of them each year.

I am giving myself till December 31, 2020 to raise $500 to donate to a Black-owned bookstore in Maryland.  Of course, I cannot do this all on my own. So, I am asking for everyone's help. Please support by either making a donation and/or sharing with your friends and family. Thank you all in advanced for your help!
