Every night at 7 p.m., people in New York City stop whatever it is they are doing and break out into applause, taking to their windows and balconies to thank health-care workers fighting the coronavirus outbreak.
Similar tributes have taken place in India, Italy, Spain and many other countries.
But this isn't the only way that people have been showing their appreciation.
Famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower have carried thank-you messages. Murals and other artworks are honoring essential workers for their sacrifice.
And some people are donating directly to workers, whether it be food, flowers or free haircuts.
