Teyana Taylor has released The Album via G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam. The new record features guest spots from Erykah Badu, Missy Elliott, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Future, Kehlani, Quavo, Rick Ross, and others. Listen to it below.

Taylor wrote an op-ed for Billboard explaining the significance of the album’s Juneteenth release date. “With releasing the album on Juneteenth, it’s important because if you noticed the lead singles that I led with were ‘Made It’ and ‘We Got Love,’” she wrote. “So I’ve always been here. I’ve always been about us being celebrated and celebrating my culture and my people. For everything to happen, from my album getting delayed and it falls perfectly on Juneteenth, yes, it’s a celebration.” She continued:

We still got work to do, though. It’s still a lot of work to be done, but I just wanted it to be a thing where Juneteenth is amazing, but even after Juneteenth, we have to keep going. We have to keep celebrating one another and not letting that die down. We have to all keep taking a stand, because it shouldn’t be just a thing where we’re celebrated for one day, or a month, and then that’s that.

Taylor’s most recent LP was 2018’s K.T.S.E., which was produced by Kanye West. From that record, she released two star-studded videos for “WTP” and “Issues/Hold On.”
