Your Pies Have Arrived

Eleven slices of lively looking pies sit on white plates set against a marbled countertop. A couple of slices are finished with a blueberry-topped whipped cream, a couple are bright pink or coated in chocolate and topped with peanuts. About a handful have fresh bites taken out of them, with forks sitting alongside.

1

Cranberry Lemon Meringue Pie

A cranberry-lemon pie is photographed from overhead. A blow-torched meringue is swirled and piled onto the bright-red center. A good bit of bright-red is showing between the meringue and the pie crust. To the right of the pie is a textured napkin and a cake server.

Lemon meringue pie gets even better when it’s paired with cranberries. Here, the berries lend their deep magenta hue and pectin, which helps set the soft yet sliceable filling.

Pecan Sandie Pie

A pecan sandie pie is photographed from overhead. Strips of pecan filling peek out from under some tan, diamond shaped cookies. The cookies along the outer edges are dusted with confectioners’ sugar, as a contrast. To the left of the pie are two forks.

A nutty richness runs through this pie, as pecans caramelize in the gooey filling and turn buttery and crisp in a base that’s both tastier than traditional dough and doesn’t require any rolling.

Spiced Pumpkin Cheesecake

A bright yellow pie topped with strips of equally bright yellow candied ginger and edged with a graham cracker crust sits in a white rimmed pie plate on a light gray background.

A silky cream cheese-pumpkin filling meets a tangy sour cream topping. Ginger, ground and candied, ties together the cinnamon, cardamom and turmeric, which evoke (and soothe like) turmeric tea and chai.

4

Blackberry Apple Pie

A red jam bubbles up from the side of a freshly baked pie topped with a lattice that alternates wide and thin strips. It’s all finished with a shower of turbinado sugar. To the right of the plate are some forks and plates for serving.

This feels like an old-fashioned apple pie, made all the lovelier with a bold, modern top that blankets juicy blackberries and sweet-tart apples.

5

Maple Cream Pie With Blueberries

An overhead photograph shows a large tan pie topped with blueberry syrup-swirled whipped cream. It sits against a light background. To the left is a clear bowl with a spoon and more syrup.

Maple syrup, whipped cream and saucy berries come together in this dessert, which evokes the best pancake-house breakfasts.

6

Eggnog Sweet Potato Pie

An orangey-golden pie topped with pie crust squares finished with a coarse sugar sits against a white background. More sugar-topped squares line the edge of the crust. Around the pie plate, along the top of the frame, are a number of clear glasses holding an amber liquid.

Eggnog’s cream, eggs, nutmeg and dark liquor infuse this pie with the warmth of the holidays, while a sugar-sparkled crust that requires no expertise in crimping dough makes it extra joyful.

7

Caramel Apple Pie

Rows of green apple wedges are tiled on a caramel base and a cookie crust in this caramel apple pie, which sits in a gray pie plate against a light background.

In this pie, the snap of fresh fruit gives way to a soft salted caramel and a melt-in-your-mouth shortbread base. It’s essentially a caramel apple on a buttery crust.

8

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

A chocolate covered pie, with a deeply chocolatey crust and topped with halved peanuts, sits in a white rimmed pie plate on a light gray background.

As fun as a candy bar and as creamy as a cheesecake, this pie sandwiches an airy peanut butter filling between a chocolaty graham cracker crust and a fudgy glaze. Salted peanuts on top add an irresistible crunch.

9

Custard Pie

A bright pink pie with fork-crimped edges sits against a light background, with a textured napkin just off to the top right of it. To the left is a small sieve filled with a pink powder.

Dan tat, egg custard tarts popular in Cantonese dim sum, inspired this comforting pie. Freeze-dried berries add a pop of color and a hint of fruitiness.
