Guide to Seuss Landing at Universal Orlando Resort

October 26, 2021
Snap a fun and colorful photo in Seuss Landing amongst the Truffula Trees at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss’ I Can Read With My Eyes Shut

One of the original themed islands at Universal Islands of Adventure, Seuss Landing transports you into the pages of some of Dr. Seuss’ beloved stories and lets you experience firsthand the fun (and often silly) adventures you’ve only read about.

This colorful island brings out the inner Who in all of us with something to explore around every corner — no matter how big or small, young or old.

In this complete guide to Seuss Landing, you’ll learn what to do, where to eat, and discover a few hidden gems along the way.

What to Do

OneFishTwoFish

Let the adventure begin by taking a right after passing through the Port of Entry and into Seuss Landing. Take a moment to stop for a photo under the twisting arches with your favorite people. For added theming, consider matching Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts.

PERSONAL FAVORITE: The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride! holds a special place in my heart. It was the first ride my oldest son rode at three years old and now as a tween it’s a must-do each visit with his younger brother — proving you’re never too old to let loose and have fun.

DID YOU KNOW: Dr. Seuss almost never drew straight lines. Everything was curved, slanted, or “wonky.” Thus, you can find the same lack of straight lines in Seuss Landing.

Where to Eat

It’s easy to work up an appetite when you’re having fun. With family-friendly venues and kid-approved menus, there’s plenty of options to fill your bellies with comfort food.

Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous

Step right up! Step right up! Enter the big top circus tent and treat your family to kid favorites like cheeseburgers, fried chicken, pizza and more. Whether you sit in the center ring or at your own train car booth, you’ll have prime viewing of passengers on The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride! as they wave from above.

MY RECOMMENDATION: I live with carnivores, so the Bacon Cheeseburger Combo is a favorite with my husband and boys. They love the burger size, savory bacon and side of fries. And I like that it comes with a side Caesar salad for some added greens (just don’t tell them it’s healthy).

Green Eggs and Ham Cafe (open seasonally)

WhoHash

Guy-Am-I may not like Green Eggs and Ham, but at this outdoor eatery, you can get your fill of their namesake dish: green eggs, diced ham, white cheese sauce over a bowl of crispy tater tots.

Or Feast! Feast! Feast! on the famous Who Hash: a delectable corned beef dish with onions, white cheese sauce, scallions and tater tots served in a souvenir Who Hash can.

MY RECOMMENDATION: With two growing boys, pizza is practically its own food group in our house. So the Pizza Tots are the perfect mash-up of pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella cheese and tater tots to satisfy their never-ending hunger pains.

No trip would be complete without a truly sweet treat. Stop at Hop on Pop Ice Cream Shop for sundaes, waffle cones and sundae on a stick with a variety of toppings to make it your own.

MY RECOMMENDATION: The chocolate-dipped rainbow sprinkle covered creation is a fave because it tastes divine and is as pretty as a confetti burst.

Moose Juice, Goose Juice

Need a little pick me up? At Moose Juice, Goose Juice, you can find the perfect frozen juice just for you, along with other tasty snacks including fresh fruit cups to keep the afternoon snoozes away.

MY RECOMMENDATION: I’m for #TeamMooseJuice. This refreshing, frozen orange slush-style drink is my go-to on warm Florida days… which is basically year-round.

Where to Shop

Find the perfect souvenir for your favorite Who with Seuss-themed hats, shirts, toys, treats and of course, books at a variety of merchandise stores.

Personal Favorite: Each shop offers unique souvenirs, but the book-lover in me could just spend the day in the All the Books You Can Read store. On all my travels, I seek out book stores so it’s only fitting to visit one inside the theme parks, too. From the adorable window seat to the rows and rows of Dr. Seuss books, it’s a wondrous spot to fuel my love of reading.

Hidden Gem: When visiting the land, see if you can spot Theodore Geisel’s likeness (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) above a storefront for the perfect photo op.

Where to Rest

Believe it or not, having all this fun can be quite tiresome. In Seuss Landing, winding benches weave in and out between rides, behind stores and along the main pathway giving Whos of all ages a spot to relax.

My Recommendation: Our family has two favorite rest areas. The first is tucked between One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and The Cat in the Hat. It’s shaded and has ample room for strollers, wheelchairs and space for little ones to run freely.  The second spot is just past Green Eggs and Ham Cafe with plenty of seating along the flower beds and picturesque views of Sneetch Beach.

Hidden Gem: Inside the Truffula Tree Forest, the “UNLESS” tree stump from The Lorax is a reminder that UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.
