Was Sean Payton wearing a Roger Goodell clown T-shirt?

The New Orleans Saints were on the wrong end of one of the worst no-calls we’ve seen in the NFL. By now, we all know that the officials incorrectly didn’t throw a flag on a clear pass interference by Nickell Robey-Coleman, which helped the Rams reach Super Bowl 53.

Sean Payton was justifiably furious at the time, and on Wednesday, the Saints head coach met with the media to discuss the call and the NFL’s lack of public response.

But NFL fans could not stop looking at Payton’s shirt. It looked like Payton was wearing a Roger Goodell clown shirt — the same shirt that Matt Patricia sported when he was on New England’s staff.

Could Payton really have been wearing that shirt? It absolutely seemed possible. If so, it was a blatant shot at Goodell.

Payton wore a quarter-zip sweatshirt over the T-shirt and had the top unzipped enough to reveal what appeared to be Goodell’s hairline. The angles certainly matched up.

This wasn’t exactly subtle.

Payton said during the media availability that he coped with the loss by eating ice cream and watching Netflix.

His apparent shirt suggests that he won’t be getting over the loss anytime soon.
