Alex Trebek is a happily married man. But if he wasn’t, he’d have his pick of any 70- or 80-year-old woman.

The “Jeopardy!” host, 78, tells People he gets hit on a lot.

“I’ve always referred to myself as a second- or third-tier celebrity. I’m not George Clooney,” he quipped. “I’m considered more of an extended family member because you get used to seeing me in your home every night. So when people pass me on the street, it’s more like, ‘Hi, how are you?’ and not like, ‘Oh my God, can I get your autograph?’ I also have a lot of women in their 70s and 80s who tell me, ‘You’re hot.’”

In the summer of 2018, Trebek signaled he was considering retiring from “Jeopardy!,” which he’s hosted for 35 years. But as he explains, he probably won’t.

“People have been wondering if I was going to retire for years, but if I wanted to really try something new, it would be acting,” he said.

Trebek adds he has lots of actor friends and they’re envious of his schedule — he only works two days a week, whereas actors often have long hours on set for months.

“Do I want to be in that kind of a grind? Obviously, I don’t since I haven’t done anything about it,” he quipped. “I have a simple philosophy about things like this: If you really wanted it, you would have done something about trying to get it.”

Trebek will at least stay put as the host of “Jeopardy!” until his contract ends in 2022.
