Cavaliers will open the NBA Finals on May 31 vs. the Warriors

Cleveland and Golden State will renew hostilities in the NBA Finals starting Thursday.

The 2018 NBA Finals will start on Thursday, May 31, with the Cleveland Cavaliers back in the championship round for the fourth year in a row. They’ll open the series on the road, facing either the Golden State Warriors ... for the fourth year in a row.

The Cavaliers eliminated the Boston Celtics on Sunday night with a win in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, extending LeBron James’ remarkable streak to eight straight NBA Finals.

Golden State used another huge third quarter comeback to best the Houston Rockets in their own Game 7, and now we have a familiar sight on our hands: a Cavs-Warriors final.

  • Game 2: Sunday, June 3 at Golden State, 8 p.m.
  • Game 3: Wednesday, June 6 at Cleveland, 9 p.m.
  • Game 4: Friday, June 8 at Cleveland, 9 p.m.
  • Game 5 (if necessary): Monday, June 11 at Golden State, 9 p.m.
  • Game 6 (if necessary): Thursday, June 14 at Cleveland, 9 p.m.
  • Game 7 (if necessary): Sunday, June 17 at Golden State, 8 p.m.

ABC will televise every game of the NBA Finals, with online streaming available through Watch ESPN.

Cleveland lost to the Rockets in both of their regular season matchups, and did the same with the Warriors. The Cavaliers are 8-1 at home this postseason and 4-5 on he road.
