2024 NCAA Basketball Tournament Brackets
Senior Napheesa Collier joined an elite group of former UConn women’s basketball players on Saturday.
Collier scored her 2,000th point in the Huskies’ game against Cincinnati, making her one of just five players in program history to reach 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. She joins Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, Tina Charles and Rebecca Lobo. The senior’s newest milestone comes just one game after she reached 1,000 rebounds.
This season she’s scored in double digits every game, averaging 18.7 points and 9.9 rebounds. Either she or fellow senior Katie Lou Samuelson have led the team in scoring in 17 games and rebounding in 18 games.
Samuelson has also etched her name in UConn’s record books this season, surpassing Diana Taurasi for second-most 3-pointers in program history. Sitting at 344 before the beginning of Saturday’s game, she’s 54 away from tying Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis for first.
