Prince Harry admitted during his sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday that he still has an immense amount of love towards his older brother, Prince William. A lifelong friendship as brothers, however, doesn't mean they don't need time apart.

When Winfrey asked Prince Harry to detail where his relationship with his brother currently stands, the Duke of Sussex responded, "As I said before, I love William to bits. We’ve been through hell together and we have a shared experience, but we are on different paths."

"The relationship is 'space' at the moment," continued Prince Harry. "And time heals all things, hopefully."

Earlier in the conversation, Prince Harry expressed how he felt for not only his brother, but also his father Prince Charles, and how he views their roles as kings-in-waiting as a "trapped" role within the institution of the monarchy.

"It's a part of the role. That's what's expected, no matter who you are in the family, no matter what's going on in your personal life, no matter what's just happened," said Harry of the expectation to continue to fulfill royal duties, even amid personal crises. Harry also mentioned how he understands that due to his ranking within the line of succession and the improbability of him becoming king, he has a freedom that his father and brother will never know or have.

"My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don't get to leave [their roles]," said Harry. "And I have huge compassion for that."
