Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 6: Brian Hoyer might be worth a look on Sunday

The Bears’ quarterback gets a good matchup against the Jaguars this weekend. We explore the fantasy implications.

When Chicago Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler went down in Week 2 with a thumb injury, it was thought that the team’s backup in Brian Hoyer would come in and do a solid job filling in for the injured starter. Well, three starts and 339 passing yards per game later for Hoyer and the Bears’ backup is unlikely to relinquish his new role unless he suffers an injury himself.

Despite Chicago only winning one of his three starts, Hoyer has thrown for at least 300 passing yards and two touchdowns in each of the past three weeks.

Fantasy Impact: This Sunday, Hoyer and the Bears will be facing the Jacksonville Jaguars. In their four games this season, the Jaguars are allowing the seventh most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

Jacksonville’s defense has yet to allow a quarterback to finish with at least 300 passing yards in a game this year. But they have allowed three out the four quarterbacks they have faced in 2016 to throw for at least two touchdowns.

Yahoo! is projecting Hoyer to finish with 256 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception this weekend. Based on his play so far this season, he definitely has the potential to put up even better numbers on Sunday.

Fantasy owners in need of more production from their quarterback should consider starting Hoyer in their lineups this week.
