Britney Spears Thinks Justin Bieber Is a “Nice, Kind Boy,” but Will Not Be Collaborating with Him

“Did you see what happened to him the other day? . . . Didn’t he, like, expose himself?”

It’s Britney week (bitch)! The pop icon is about to release her ninth album, Glory, this Friday, and she is currently in the midst of something of a press onslaught in anticipation of the release. Spears’s “Carpool Karaoke” with James Corden will be released this week, and she is set to perform at the V.M.A.s on Sunday, for the first time in nearly a decade.

Spears also called into BBC Radio 1 with Scott Miles today, and the two chatted about a range of topics. Spears has not sounded this relaxed on a radio interview in a while, and it’s pretty fantastic (well worth the 10-minute listen). Spears discusses Elton John, her Las Vegas neighbor (“I saw him a couple of months ago going into his car”), as well as the possibility of her doing the Super Bowl halftime show (“Yes, I would probably do that . . . I would have to have a little support there, another artist, of course”). She also alluded to “thousands of stories” she has about “divas” she has worked with before, or who “didn’t show up” to commitments (let the guessing begin).

And she also shot down the recent rumor that she would be teaming up with Justin Bieber on a track, expressly denying that she would be working on a song with the singer. (“No, there’s no truth to that, at all.”)

But she is up on Bieber’s recent antics, telling Mills that she was aware of the recent photos published online of Bieber nude on vacation.

“Did you see what happened to him the other day?,” she exclaimed, like your friend might over an early evening bottle of wine. “Didn’t he, like, expose himself? That was insane! Like, I don’t understand what went on there. Was that on the news and stuff? . . . Oh…my God! OH MY GOD!”

Spears then reflected on her meeting with Bieber, telling the tale in delightful fashion: “I met him. It’s weird. Probably three years ago on Femme Fatale. He walks into my hotel room and he was like a kid! Literally, he looked like he was 13 years old, but he was 16. And I was like ‘Who is this kid in my hotel? Like what is going on?’ And his mom is like ‘Is there a tanning bed located in here?!’… and I’m like ‘Who are these people?’ And my assistant was like ‘This is Justin Bieber and his mother.’ And I was like ‘Oh my God! I cannot believe this.’ He’s very unassuming. He’s a very nice, kind boy. He’s obviously way older now. He was extremely kind.”

We would like this interaction to be re-enacted, in a short film directed by . . . maybe Ryan Murphy, starring Anna Faris as Spears and Jacob Tremblay as Bieber, and Lea Michele as Bieber’s mom (yeah, yeah, we realize the ages do not work out perfectly).

Spears closed the interview with an A+ response to the question of what she wishes she could have told her younger self: “Never get married, number one.”
