Justin Bieber Tops Pop Songs Chart With ‘Sorry’
Bieber scores his second leader on the airplay list, following prior single "What Do You Mean?"
Justin Bieber notches his second No. 1 on Billboard‘s top 40 radio-based Pop Songs airplay chart (dated Jan. 2, 2016), as “Sorry” rises 2-1. The song follows prior single “What Do You Mean?,” which became his first No. 1 on the ranking, for two weeks in October.
“Sorry” dethrones Adele‘s “Hello” after four weeks atop Pop Songs.

“Mean” likewise became Bieber’s first leader on the all-format airplay/sales/streaming-based Billboard Hot 100 upon its Sept. 19 debut at No. 1. “Sorry” has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100. Bieber has tallied three Pop Songs top 10s in a row, as, ahead of “Mean” and “Sorry,” “Where Are U Now” (with Skrillex and Diplo) began the run, reaching No. 6 in September. All three songs are on Bieber’s album Purpose, which debuted as his sixth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (dated Dec. 5) and has become his fifth set to sell at least 1 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. The set’s new single, “Love Yourself” (co-written by Ed Sheeran), is already zooming up Pop Songs, bounding 26-20 in its third week on the chart and winning Greatest Gainer honors for its 90 percent increase in plays.
